About Catch the Thief

Catch the Thief is an Egyptian endless runner. You're the police officer, and a thief has just snatched a bag and bolted. He's ahead of you down the street; the officer runs by himself, and your job is to get past everything in the way without tripping until you reach him and catch him.

The chase runs through Downtown Cairo, with its old apartment blocks, microbuses and tuk-tuks, and through the lanes of Old Cairo with their mashrabiya windows, lanterns and fruit carts. Jump over crates, bins, orange carts and open manholes, and slide under washing lines, shop signs and carpets hung out to air. Watch out: the thief throws watermelons and crates back to slow you down.

Every thief you catch brings a faster one, and the streets change. The bar at the top shows how far ahead he is; if he reaches the red end, he's gone. A ful sandwich refills your sprint and gives you a burst of speed. It's 3D and runs on computers and phones.

How to play

1. Press “Play now”, then “Start”.
2. The officer runs by himself: jump over things on the ground.
3. Slide under things hanging across the way, like washing and signs.
4. Sprint with Shift or the «Run» button until the blue bar runs out.
5. Reach the thief to catch him; then a faster thief takes off.
6. If the thief gets to the red end of the bar, he's escaped and the run ends.

Controls

Tips to win

• Don't sprint right before a jump: a trip loses everything you gained.
• When the thief looks back, he's about to throw something, so get ready to jump.
• The sandwiches up high need a jump, but they're worth it: a full sprint and extra speed.
