About Egypt Taxi

Egypt Taxi is a 3D taxi game set in a whole Cairo you can drive around: Tahrir Square with its obelisk and lawn, the Egyptian Museum, Qasr El Nil Bridge and its lions, Zamalek and the Cairo Tower, Al-Azhar and Khan el-Khalili, Ramses Station, Cairo University and the zoo, and Pyramids Road all the way out to the Pyramids and the Sphinx. The streets are full of cars, black-and-white taxis, microbuses and tuk-tuks, the apartment blocks have AC units, satellite dishes, balconies and shops with Arabic signs, and Egyptian ads line the big roads.

Choose your ride: the Lada taxi is quick and well balanced, the tuk-tuk turns on the spot and squeezes in anywhere but is slow, and the microbus carries a crowd for bigger fares but handles like a bus. Your passenger waits in a glowing circle by the kerb: stop in it and they hop in and tell you where to go. The blue sign at the top, just like a motorway gantry sign, shows the place and the distance, and the arrow and the map show you the way.

There are three games. Time Challenge is classic crazy taxi: deliver as many passengers as you can before the clock runs out, and every quick drop-off buys more time. Missions is 12 levels of set trips all over Cairo, each with three stars to win. Open Road puts you on the Ring Road that never ends, weaving through traffic and picking up fares from the roadside before your fuel runs out. Passengers tip extra for near misses, jumps off ramps and drifts.

How to play

  1. Pick the taxi, the tuk-tuk or the microbus, then choose a game.
  2. Drive to the glowing circle where a passenger is waiting and stop inside it to let them in.
  3. Follow the arrow above your car, the blue sign and the map to the destination.
  4. Stop in the blue circle to drop the passenger off and collect the fare.
  5. Drive fast for tips and extra time, but watch out for the traffic.

  • The handbrake swings you round tight corners: hold it as you turn and let go once the car straightens.
  • Near misses and jumps off ramps earn bigger tips while you have a passenger aboard.
  • On the Open Road, slow below 40 km/h inside the circle to pick up, and every delivery refills your fuel.

Egypt Taxi: questions and answers

Is Egypt Taxi free to play?

Yes, it's completely free and runs right in your browser, with no download and no sign-up.

Can I play it on my phone?

Yes. There are steering buttons on the left and gas, brake and handbrake pedals on the right. Most phones start on light graphics so the game stays smooth, and you can change that in Settings.

What's the difference between the taxi, the tuk-tuk and the microbus?

The taxi is the fastest and handles well. The tuk-tuk is slower but light and turns on the spot. The microbus is heavy and shoves other cars aside, but it carries a crowd, so it earns the biggest fares of the three.

Are the places in the game real?

The game has Cairo's famous places, like Tahrir Square, the Egyptian Museum, Qasr El Nil Bridge, the Cairo Tower, Khan el-Khalili, Ramses Station and the Pyramids, but the map is shrunk and rearranged to make a game, not a real map.

What age is Egypt Taxi for?

It suits players from about 8 up, and adults. Cars bump and shove each other, with no serious crashes and no blood.
