Market Money Game

About Market Money Game

Market Money Game teaches children aged 6 to 10 to use money at a busy Egyptian market stall. The friendly shopkeeper tells your child the price of fava beans, falafel, flatbread, mangoes, a football or a balloon, and they pay with Egyptian pounds: the 50-piaster and 1-pound coins and the 5, 10, 20, 50 and 100-pound notes, drawn as simple cartoon money in their familiar colours with the value printed big.

There are three games. In Pay exactly your child taps coins and notes into the tray until they match the price. In Is it enough? they count a wallet and decide whether it can buy the item, or pick the one wallet out of three that can. In Count the change, for older kids, they pay with a bigger note and choose the right change. Easy prices go up to 20 pounds, Medium up to 100, and Hard adds half pounds such as 3.50.

The shopkeeper talks and reads his words aloud, gently shows the right answer after a mistake, and each round of 8 customers ends with up to three stars. It is a playful way to practise adding and taking away with real-world money. Free, no sign-up, no download.
